OUR STORY

Tom & Moe wanted to make sea salt.

They wanted to do this sustainably using the age-old authentic way - powered only by the natural elements. Living in the beautiful but inclement West Kerry, they foresaw a challenge.

So they went for a surf to think about it…

We moved to the Dingle Peninsula with our partners around 2015. Here, we fell in love with the wildness & natural beauty of the land & seascape. We forged a friendship through our shared passion for surfing & it was on the water that the idea for making sea salt through solar evaporation came about.

Having young children made us acutely aware of the need to conserve the resources of the planet for future generations. Our shared respect for the natural environment meant that we needed to rethink how sea salt is made in colder climates. Business-as-usual was not an option.

Drawing on our background knowledge, we devised a low-carbon method to create a unique sea salt by harnessing the elements we were so familiar with through surfing. Using the pristine Atlantic waters from the area, combined with the sun & the wind, to produce a sea salt in a way that is gentle on the environment.

Within the inspirational setting of the Dingle Peninsula, we began trialling our production method in 2019. Our process is unique in Ireland and requires no energy other than the sun’s rays & plentiful West Kerry breeze. With each season, we patiently perfected our craft, combining the natural elements with a little bit of science & a lot of trial & error.

Finally in 2021, our art was perfected & Dingle Sea Salt was born.

Bringing our brand to life…
